Did you know that if you lined up every superhero from the upcoming Avengers movie end to end, they’d reach from earth to the moon?

Ok, that’s an exaggeration, but only a slight one. Avengers: Infinity War is a big movie — big budget, big special effects, and (this just in) big opening weekend. Not least is the film’s big, big cast. In case you haven’t noticed, Marvel’s put out, oh, a few superhero movies in recent years (18 in the last decade, in fact), and the newest Avengers film promises to bring all the characters together for epic battles and snarky bickering.

If you haven’t been religiously following the introduction of new characters and plotlines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you may feel a little overwhelmed by the elaborate spandex tapestry the films have woven. So, to help out, the stars of the movie recently took to the Tonight Show with a spoof version of the Brady Bunch theme that gives a quick rundown of the heroes and their stories.

The video follows the format of the original song pretty closely, right down to the irritating catchiness. It begins with Robert Downey Jr. (aka Tony Stark, aka Iron Man) in a lone square onscreen, which soon multiplies to reveal more members of Marvel’s dysfunctional “family.” There’s Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), and the list of A-listers keeps going, with each actor showing up to throw in a few words about their character (or a “Wakanda forever!”).

But while nine squares were enough to contain the Brady Bunch, they’re not enough for the crowds of Avengers that populate the Marvel universe. In order to stay true to the original, some heroes had to be left out.

But don’t worry, you can still catch your favourite Avengers actors . . . pretty much anywhere. With so many stars attached to the film, the press circuit for the Avengers movies is beginning to look like a travelling celebrity variety show. Everywhere you look, there’s an Avenger, giving an interview or hosting SNL or holding forth next to a talk-show host’s desk. Which may just help hold fans over until the next instalment, which is out in a year.

Since the film’s massive opening weekend, people have been flooding the internet with vague allusions to a big cliffhanger, not to mention some major character deaths. It’s only a matter of time before the spoilers start popping up. So if you haven’t seen it, and you’re invested in the Marvel Bunch’s antics, you’d better get to the theatre — fast.
