Create your own invitations

In honour of the wedding of the year, opt out of the typical group text invite and turn to traditional invitations for your royal wedding viewing party. After all, invitations are the first impression of any event. Give your guests a glimpse of all the fun to be had on May 19 with these customizable printable invitations, available on Etsy.

Try Markle’s breakfast smoothie

Unlike Will and Kate’s wedding, Canadian viewers won’t have to set their alarm clocks too early on May 19. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding ceremony will begin at 7 a.m. EST. That means if you’re watching the royal wedding from our side of the pond, you’ll need a quick and healthy breakfast option for you and your guests. We suggest sipping on the exact blueberry smoothie the bride-to-be drinks every day. Find Markle’s six-ingredient smoothie here.

Serve high tea

There’s nothing more quintessentially British than high tea. At your viewing party, serve guests classic teas like Earl Grey and traditional English Breakfast on your finest china. No high tea is complete without a spread of assorted dainty tea sandwiches like egg salad, cucumber with cream cheese, and roast beef. And of course, don’t forget the desserts! Treats like bite-sized sponge cakes, petite madeleines’ and scones topped with clotted cream will be sure to satisfy any sweet-tooth.

Take photos in a royal selfie booth

Bring your party to the next level with a DIY selfie booth. Easy and affordable, all you need for your DIY selfie booth is a Union Jack flag for your backdrop and props like tiaras, fascinators, and crowns. There are a ton of resources online for free printable photo booth props, but we’re loving this particular wedding template from The Budget Savvy Bride.

Bake a lemon elderflower cake

No royal wedding viewing party is complete without a cake. Earlier this year, Kensington Palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle picked London-based pastry chef Claire Ptak to make their lemon elderflower wedding cake. Bake your own mouth-watering lemon elderflower cake at home with this delicious video recipe. For the finishing touches, cover your cake with buttercream frosting and fresh flowers, just like Ptak will be decorating Prince Harry and Meghan’s.

Play royal wedding bingo

Games make everything more fun, even the royal nuptials. With markers like “George throws shade” and “Charles and Camilla look awkward” the unofficial royal wedding bingo card  is sure to keep guests on their toes. Download your royal wedding bingo guide here at CBC Life.

Decorate with peonies

A bouquet of pink peonies is a must for every royal wedding viewing party. The Insta-worthy blooms are a well-known favourite of Markle’s and are reported to be the star of the wedding’s extravagant flower arrangements. Peonies are also a sentimental choice of flowers for the couple. When the two began dating, Markle posted a photo of herself in London swooning over a stunning bouquet of pink and white peonies. In her caption she noted that she was being “spoiled rotten,” proving that indeed, Prince Harry is definitely a romantic.
