Show Off Your Plant Mom Skills With a DIY Hanging Planter

When space is tight, but you want to live in a jungle, hanging plants are the answer to all of your worries. This DIY hanging planter will bring the outdoors in and brighten any dark corner with an innovative rustic spin.

Materials

4 9x9" wood squares
4 plant pots
4 plants
1 pot bottom tray
paint
rope
metal ring
ceiling plug
sandpaper
wood stain
brush
pencil
measuring tape
Scissors

Instructions:

Measure the centre point of your four wood pieces.
Tightly clamp down each wood piece on to two scrap pieces of wood. This simply serves as a raiser to protect your workspace when drilling.
Use a hole saw to cut a hole through each of your wood pieces. Line up the drill bit at the centre point mark.
Measure 1/2” away from each corner of your wood pieces.
Drill a hole in each corner of the wood with a 3/8” drill bit.
Sand your wood pieces to remove any splinters.
Using a brush, stain the wood. Leave the wood to dry.
Cut four 6’ pieces of rope.
Tie a knot at the start of each rope.
From the bottom up, thread each rope through the corner holes of your wood pieces.
Slide down a wood square, and then tie a knot in each rope 1’ from the previous knot.
Continue adding the next wood piece and slide it down to rest on the knot you just created. Repeat this process with all wood pieces.
Ensure that your wood pieces are sitting level and make adjustments in your knots as needed.
Feed the top of the rope pieces through a metal ring and secure it by tying a knot.
Pot your plants and place them inside the holes drilled in each wood square.
Be sure to add a bottom pot tray to your last pot to catch any excess water that runs out after watering your plants.
Use a ceiling plug to hang your rustic hanging planter!
